Feature Friday - Asking for Suggestions

Hi everyone! Allysattic here. I decided for this week's Feature Friday post that I'd ask for people's thoughts, comments, and suggestions on the weekly Feature Friday posts that I've been doing for our blog.

For those of you who may be new to the team, every Friday I create a blog post featuring one of our great team members. They answer a series of questions that I sent them earlier in the week. I post their answers as well as the banner from their shop(s) and pictures of their items. You can see examples of Feature Friday postings on the blog.

Here are the questions that members are asked to answer when they are the Feature Friday person:

1. Tell us a bit about yourself, your shop, and what brought you to the Etsy community.

2. Besides creating beautiful things for your shop, what do you spend your days doing?

3. What sources do you draw your inspiration from and what is your creative process(es)?

4. What market (group of people) do you see your items being for?

5. Name your top three:
      - Books
      - Music (song or artist)
      - Movies or Television shows
      - Websites

6. What are your favorite features on Etsy? What new features would you like to see added?

7. How do you market your work? What has or hasn't worked for you in the past?

8. What do you like most about the Virtual Labs?

9. What topics or events would you like to see added to the Virtual Lab offerings?

Anyway, please post a comment about what you think about the weekly Feature Friday posts. Should we change the existing quetsions, or add to them, or get rid of them? What else can we do to feature a person in the post?

I'm looking forward to hearing your comments and suggestions!

Allysattic out.

  1. I really like the questions for the posts. One thing though, is that not everyone always has answers for them all. So maybe there could be a list of questions (including these) that you could say to the featured artist - pick 5 that you'd really like to answer and share about. All in all, I think you're doing a great job and I really enjoy reading these posts!

  2. Well, the questions are essentially the same questions that Etsy asks the weekly "Featured Seller," and so I think it is a great idea that we all have a good plan of how we would answer these questions.

But, on the other hand... I really don't care what their favorite features on Etsy are (O.M.G. being on front page!! and being hearted <3!!) and what they like most about the Virtual Labs (meeting super kewl peeps!)..

I'd like to see questions on what they are working on, what their goals are, how they are accomplishing those goals and the direction they would like to take their shop, because I ask myself these same questions daily.

I agree with Sara, you are doing a great job!!

  3. Oooh, some questions about works-in-progress and goals would be great! I love to hear about what people have going on in the background. I know I have about a dozen projects going on at once at all times (lol).

I do love reading about featured shops!

  4. New member here!

Great questions!! Maybe add "What goals do you have for your shop?"

  5. You could always do something like the featured seller picks three questions, then always throw in a fourth random, off-the-wall question like: "Animal, Mineral, or Vegetable", "Why did the chicken cross the road", "How many licks does it take to get to the middle of a tootsie pop"....you know, those sorts of things!

  6. I like all of these suggestions!

I also agree that you are doing a great job running this segment. You always pick great photos to use throughout the post and I love the use of the shop's banner in the post as well!

  8. I liked using the questions. They really guide you along. Current projects and goals would be a cool addition. You're doing a wonderful job. I was very pleased with how you presented my shop and answers. I especially liked your comment about my first sale. Thanks so much.

  9. I like the previous suggestions. They're exactly what I would say if I had been quicker to comment and highly intelligent. I like the random question, as well; kind of like the random blogspot questions that I think are funny. I think fewer questions (perhaps picking out of a list) is better since I have a hard time reading all of the answers in one sitting. All-in-all, however, I think you are doing a fabulous job on this site.

  10. I like all the suggestions here... I would be in favour of a choice of 5 questions to answer or something like that, because for myself I'm not sure I would be able to answer all the questions! :) Also it would be cool to see pictures of our members in their work space... that way you get to know each other even better!!!
