Blog Buttons, Tutorials and more!

Hello team! Hope you all are enjoying warm weather and left over Easter candy.

First things first, we need a blog button! I'm going to turn that over to you guys to create. I'll make a little contest of it, the winning creator of our blog button will get a feature on Facebook and an extended spotlight on the sidebar of our blog! The guidelines for creating our button:
  • It should be relevant to "Lab Rats", whether it feature rats, science or the virtual labs - whatever the name means to you.
  • It should be 200 pixels wide, and 150-200 tall.
  • It needs to be turned in by Saturday, May 1st.
  • To turn it in, leave a link to the photo in the comments section of THIS entry. I recommend uploading it to flickr or, if you don't have a flickr account, imgur.
Other than that, be creative and have fun! Once we have all the entries, we'll do a member poll to pick the winning design!

Moving right along, I'd just like to let people know our little tags and stuff, in case you were new or not sure.

On etsy, use the tag labratsteam on a few items to be seen. I will tell you right now that I when I look for photos to feature on the blog, I search those pages!

On twitter, if you want the team to see something, use the hash tag #sqk. Stick it at the end of a tweet and we can find it!

And lastly, tutorials! If you can make something totally awesome, or feel like you are an absolute EXPERT on something (photos, utilizing social networking, how to approach blogs/boutiques, etc.) send itsastitch a conversation with your idea and we will work out the details!

You guys rock, keep making those treasuries and being awesome! Stay tuned for the next few weeks, we'll be announcing our SUMMER challenge and our next virtual  lab meeting.

Can't wait to see those blog buttons :-)

Wishlist Wednesday - Bethany from bethanylorelle!

Hi Rats! This week our Wishlist Wednesday was selected by the fabulous Bethany from bethanylorelle. (Her shop is GORGEOUS, by the way).

Take it away, Bethany!

"I bought a few of these heavenly candles for myself, and wound up sending them to everyone in my family for Christmas. Unique and fresh scents, and they burn clean - Limon Biscotti is my favorite!

I love a well-made scarf, they are my addiction! The ladies at flutter make unique styles in fun colors. They even did a customized color for me, which shows they'll go above and beyond.

I have the utmost respect for this designer. Meredith Fenwick’s Jewelry is classic, elegant, and well made. A visit to her shop is a treat for the eyes and soul.

Jennifer Davis is a local painter here in Minnesota. Her work is charming and whimsical. A special bonus she has partnered with Vandalia Street Press (now on ETSY!) and several her line drawings are now a new line of handmade, letter pressed, blank- inside greeting cards.

Peacock Invitations make me want to get married all over again. Decadent and stunning invitations that make a wonderful keepsake once the wedding is done."

Thank you so much Bethany from bethanylorelle. Have a fabulous week LabRats!

Wishlist Wednesday: Malarie of itsastitch/spookychandelier

Hey guys! I know it kind of seems like I am hogging the spotlight here, but we had some hiccups with today's original poster, I'm going to throw up my (current) top 5 favorite things from Etsy that I wish so badly I could buy.

Lately, I have had a real obsession with vintage shoes, and these Tan Oxford Platforms from mellowdayss are no exception. The would look adorable with a little jumper and tights, after a few sales, I'm pretty sure I'm going to snatch these up!

So, I am a pretty big geek, as is my boyfriend. When I stumbled on these nom nom cat dishes my basic reaction was: DO WANT. All of gabizoidal's things are super cute, and I have loved her shop for quite sometime. I have two of these on my Christmas list!
I always feel kind of silly considering buying jewelry on Etsy, but there are so many different styles out there that I know I SHOULDN'T feel silly. paintedmetal has created these effing GORGEOUS relic stacking rings in mixed metals. I can imagine wearing these, pretty much, every day. With everything. Everywhere.

So, after hearing that carolhannah (designer on this season of Project Runway) was on Etsy, I, like any other semi-savvy watcher, searched for it. And her clothes are A-FREAKIN-DORABLE. It was pretty much love at first site when I saw her Bookstore Browing Dress. This has MALARIE written all over it, I would wear this with above shoes and rings and be the cutest in town.

Until Etsy, I never really thought about how I would decorate my wedding. I just assumed I would settle for things, because "my style" didn't exist. Well. HOLD THE PHONE. It does now. bunnywithatoolbelt totally understands how to design for someone a little more offbeat, her giraffe Bride and Groom cake toppers are so perfect for me, it hurts. I have them hearted, and everytime they sell, I go and re-heart the new listing. I hope she is still making them in a few years when I can actually buy them!
